About
Zan A. Sheikh, Esq. is Traffic Trial Counsel at All County Traffic Defense Group (ACD Law), where he leverages his extensive litigation experience and medical/healthcare background to defend his individual and business clients facing all moving/traffic violations, criminal citations, DUI/DWI and DWAI charges, and other DMV related matters throughout all of the Villages and Counties within NYC, Long Island, Westchester and Rockland.
His current practice is dedicated to protecting all drivers’ rights, minimizing penalties, and preserving driving privileges through skilled courtroom advocacy and/or strategic negotiation. Whether you have a traffic/moving violation such as a speeding or cell phone ticket, facing license suspension, or DUI/DWI charges, Zan tailors his results-driven approach to each client’s individual circumstances. His approach is straightforward: Be fierce and fight hard to protect your rights and driving record while securing the best possible outcome.
Zan’s role as Traffic Trial Attorney involves leading ACD Law’s Downstate New York defense strategy in all contested traffic violation and DWI matters including discovery/FOIL, plea negotiation, motion practice, conferences, hearings and trials. Zan cross-examines law enforcement officers and other witnesses, challenges evidence such as radar/laser, breathalyzer, and other measurement equipment results, and identifies procedural errors that can make the difference in a case. Zan fights hard to ensure that all of his clients are treated fairly and that all of their due process rights are justly preserved.
Zan also advises clients on the long-term implications and other impacts to their insurance costs and coverage, employment (CDL/TLC/Rideshare), and driver’s license/driving privileges, ensuring that every defense is both immediate and forward-looking.
Before founding ACD Law, Zan built a strong foundation defending Vehicle & Traffic Law matters throughout NYC and Long Island. He also developed broad litigation experience in New York State Courts defending land/building owners, businesses of all sizes, government/municipal entities and associated volunteer organizations (Fire/EMS), hospitals and Health Systems in complex litigation matters from initial pleadings through trial involving general and healthcare liability, insurance fraud, transportation claims, New York Labor Law, and matters involving construction/development, commercial and residential Real Estate/Landlord-Tenant as well as premises liability throughout all of NYC, Westchester and Long Island. He also previously served as an associate at a midsize litigation firm, concentrating on automobile insurance defense and the investigation of auto insurance/healthcare fraud-related matters, including no-fault insurance fraud claims. Earlier in his career, Zan represented national auto insurance carriers, ride share (TNC) companies and rental car agencies (self-insurers) in both court and arbitration (American Arbitration Association) proceedings, gaining deep experience in both provider side and claim side investigation, medical billing analysis, and alternative dispute resolution.
Born and raised on Long Island, Zan is a product of the Jericho School District; attending Jackson Elementary, Jericho Middle and High School. Zan earned his J.D. with a concentration in Health Law from the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University, where he worked with the Hofstra/Northwell Medical-Legal Partnership Clinic and interned at the Nassau County Supreme Court Matrimonial Center under the Hon. Jeffrey A. Goodstein. He also holds a B.B.A., cum laude, from Hofstra University, majoring in Legal Studies in Business.
In addition to his legal expertise, currently a New York State certified Paramedic (EMT-P), Zan brings his advanced medical knowledge and frontline healthcare perspective to ACD Law. He has previously served in various EMS roles in NYC 911, inter-facility transport, and local/Long Island municipal (public/private partnership contract) emergency 911 EMS services on Long Island for the largest private health system in New York State, experience that enhances Zan’s ability to understand and defend clients with DUI/DWI cases involving medical/healthcare complications and other challenges relating to the care and transport received while in custody.
Zan has the background, knowledge and expertise to help his clients defend their driving records as they navigate the complicated process of any accident-related claims or lawsuits that may be pending pertaining to any property damage or bodily injuries and/or medical treatments. His background in independent pharmacy management and operations in Long Island and NYC further adds to his insight into the many regulatory pressures and challenges faced by many of his business clients throughout Downstate New York.
Today, Zan’s multidisciplinary expertise in law, healthcare, and business operations equips him to deliver compassionate, strategic, and aggressive advocacy for his clients. He knows the strategies prosecutors and insurers use everyday — and how to position cases effectively for the most favorable resolution. The All County Traffic Defense Group is committed to helping all drivers navigate the legal system and the DMV, protect their records and livelihoods, and drive forward with confidence!
